Can You Vote in the Nationwide AGM 2026?

Every year, millions of Nationwide Members are eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

However, not every customer automatically qualifies to vote.

This guide explains who is likely to be eligible, how Nationwide determines eligibility, and what you can do to improve your chances of receiving a voting pack.

Why Eligibility Matters

Nationwide is owned by its Members.

Unlike a shareholder-owned bank, Nationwide Members have the opportunity to vote on important resolutions and Board elections at the AGM.

To take part, you must meet Nationwide’s voting eligibility rules.

If you are eligible, Nationwide will send you a voting pack by email or post before the AGM.

Am I Eligible to Vote?

Nationwide decides eligibility using rules set out in its Membership terms and AGM arrangements.

In general, Members must:

✔ Be 18 years-old

✔ Hold a qualifying Nationwide account

✔ Meet the minimum membership requirements

✔ Have held their account for the required qualifying period

✔ Still be a member on the relevant record date (31st March)

✔ Have at least £100 in a qualifying account

Meeting these conditions does not guarantee eligibility in every case, but it is usually the starting point.

Which Accounts Usually Qualify?

Many voting Members hold accounts such as:

  • Current accounts
  • Savings accounts
  • Mortgage accounts

The exact eligibility rules can vary depending on the type of account and how long it has been held.

If you are unsure, check Nationwide’s AGM information or contact the Society directly.

How Long Must I Have Been a Member?

Nationwide normally uses a qualifying date of the 31st March before the AGM to determine who can vote.

This means opening an account shortly before the AGM may not be enough.

There is no minimum Membership period for AGM voting.

What matters is whether you held a qualifying Nationwide account on the AGM qualifying date and still hold that account when voting takes place.

For AGM 2026, Members generally needed a qualifying account with at least £100 on 31st March 2026 and must continue to meet the voting requirements when voting closes.

How Will I Know If I Can Vote?

If you are eligible, Nationwide will normally send:

A voting email containing:

  • Your voting link

  • Instructions on how to vote

Important: The voting email may come from a specialist voting provider (Civica Election Services) rather than directly from Nationwide.
