| JSS Question | Comments / responses |
| 1. A copy of the ballot paper design, both paper and online for the 2026 Nationwide AGM cycle | 🟡 JSS: Able to access the electronic voting platform. No paper version seen as of today. 🔴 Society: “you will receive your own voting pack via post in the coming days.” 🟢 JSS: Paper form received by post 14 June 2026. |
| 2. My own election codes so that I can vote | 🟢 JSS: Obtained from CES by requesting codes online |
| 3. An explanation of how your system will work if thousands of people appoint me as their representative – are there any upper limits on what your system can handle? How will I process thousands of votes and individual preferences at the AGM? | 🟡 Society: “There are no upper limits to the Civica voting system. When you login to the AGM you will be directed to see your individual information, which outlines the people who have appointed you as their representative.” |
| 4. Whether in Civica’s experience the quick vote has even been used to guide votes AGAINST a building society candidate, and if so: who, when, why and in what context. | 🔴 JSS: Not answered by either CES or Society |
| 5. What proportion of people voted online (web vs mobile) and via paper as part of the 2025 Nationwide AGM cycle | 🔴 Society: “It is not appropriate to release confidential data during a live election process or to provide any internal analysis of voting trends from previous years.” |
| 6. What the velocity of voting was (ie votes cast per day) throughout the voting period for the same | |
| 7. What ability I have as a candidate (or one of my team) to review and audit the electoral process? | 🔴 Society: Civica is our independent scrutineer, and we have confidence their processes and outcomes are appropriately governed and accurate. |
| 8. Who is the person responsible at Civica for overseeing this election? | |
| 9. Who, if anyone, oversees your processes and procedures given you are retained (ie paid) by Nationwide? | |
| 10. When will the electronic voting system be operational ie when will it open and when will it close? | 🟡 Society: All other information about the voting period is available online. |
| 11. If eligible members are missing their secure codes to vote online, how can they request them? | 🟢 JSS: Online process added to website here |
| B1. If a voter casts a For vote for me as per Resolution 14, but no vote is cast on any other resolution, how is that vote counted? Is it left to the authorised representative (typically the chair) to vote as they see fit to complete the individual’s ballot on all resolutions? | 🟢 CES: The wording on the website and voting form confirms what happens if a resolution is left blank: Standard vote – I would like to choose how to vote on each resolution and candidate Tell us how you want to vote and the Chairman OR any other representative you appoint must act on your instructions. If you do not want to vote on every item of business, just leave that line of boxes blank and your Chairman or representative will vote on it on your behalf. If you put an X in a vote Withheld box, your vote will not be counted as either for or against that item of business. If you choose to appoint someone other than the Chairman to vote for you, see the “Appointment of a representative” section overleaf (voting form)/below (voting website). |
| B2. Is it possible for me as a candidate and/or authorised representative to receive progress reports on how the count is developing during the voting window? | 🔴 JSS: Not answered by either CES or Society |
| B3. Does Nationwide receive updates on how the count is developing from CES during the voting window? | 🔴 JSS: Not answered by either CES or Society |
| C1. Can you explain why Civica Election Services (CES) cannot answer these questions please? | 🔴 JSS: Not answered by CES |
| C2. Is there a terms of reference or codified best practice that CES comply with perhaps, that would allow me, and others, to understand the position better? | 🔴 JSS: Not answered by CES |
