Who am I?

I am James Sherwin-Smith, and I am seeking nominations and votes from fellow Nationwide members to represent member interests on the board of Nationwide building society.

Form filling including comments

When visitors leave comments or submit any form via the site, I collect the data shown in the form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

By completing the nomination form, you are opting in to me being able to communicate with you via email: to help you complete the nomination process, and to contact you periodically with progress updates regarding my candidacy. You have the right to opt out at anytime by by emailing Nominate@James4Nationwide.co.uk

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Who I share your data with

If you are given a login to this site, and request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. If you have chosen to nominate me, I will share the data you submit with the Nationwide building society, in compliance with the Nationwide’s processes and procedures for nominating a candidate for election to the board.

How long I will retain your data

If you leave a comment or submit a form, the data and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so this website can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue, and I can resubmit your nomination form in a later year. If you want me to withdraw or delete your nomination, please let me know by emailing Nominate@James4Nationwide.co.uk.

If you register for an account for this website (optional), this website will also store the personal information you provide in your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).

James, as the website administrator, can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data held about you, including any data you have provided to me.

You can also request that I erase or correct any personal data that I hold about you. This does not necessarily include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
